Project Summary:
Scottish Water announced investment plans for improvements to the security of water supply including an upgrade to water treatment works serving customers in Barra. HFBC were awarded the VRS package of this project.

HFBC works:
To supply and install the following:
- 172m of N2W2 corrugated barrier system in sockets.
- 3 no. P4 Terminals.
- 1 no. corrugated beam full height anchor.
A BT service lay approx. 300mm deep the whole length of the barrier line. To get around this and to ensure the barrier installed was compliant, HFBC excavated down to expose the cable, removed the cable and excavated further down to make the depth approx. 650mm. The cable was put into a split duct and then dropped into the bottom of the trench. A concrete strip footing was poured with the barrier posts and sockets installed into this.
